Hammock set up

My Hammock set-up is a DD 3x3m Tarp and a DD Camping Hammock.

The Hammock is set up using the original webbing looped around the tree and the Hammock is tied to the trees using two quick release knots and prussic loops to tension the ridge. Then simply guy out all corners taught.

Basic set-up but provides a good nights sleep or just a comfy few hours in the woods.

  1. I know this post is a bit old to comment on but I just ran into it from Wood Trekker's bladesandbushcraft.com links.

Are you still using the standard DD suspension on your hammock? I have the same one and had to toss the straps into the trash after one weekend. I moved to 1" web tree straps + whoopie slings and never had to re-tighten them again.

  3. I love the hammock it's huge but the ropes that came with it stretched like mad and I ended up with my butt on the ground the next morning.

To me it's about speed and convenience the whoopie slings are easier to setup, never stretches, and are adjustable on the fly without needing to redo a knot on the tree's.

Overall I wouldn't trade my DD hammock for anything though I use a Guide Gear tarp from sportsmansguide.com on mine.
